Beloved Melbourne musician dies after cancer diagnosis
Melbourne musician Dean Sky-Lucas has died after being diagnosed with advanced cancer.
'He brought incredible warmth and joy to our young Melody choir choristers, often using funny puppets, props, and engaging stories to inspire and educate,' the company wrote. He also built a career across the Tasman in classical music circles, including lecturing at the University of Auckland between 2010-2015 and working on Radio NZ as an opera critic. A highly skilled multi-instrumentalist, Sky-Lucas played the harpsichord, organ, celeste, and piano, and was known to music followers after appearing in broadcasts via the BBC, ABC FM, Sunday Live and Radio National.
