Beloved Casualty star returns to TV in hit soap amid 'shock' over axing

Casualty star Catherine Shipton has shared how it's a "real shame" and a "shock" that BBC drama Doctors has been axed after 24 years on air, as she returns to screens

The episode description, due for broadcast on October 3, says: "Luca introduces a friend to the joys and pitfalls of working for the NHS, while Holly continues trying to persuade Scarlett to join her livestream. Duffy was a dependable nurse in the first eight series of the BBC medical drama, and after leaving in 1993, she returned in 1998 for a five-year stint (Image: Instagram/cathshiptonofficial)She said to the publication: "It's a real shame and a shock, and I think, sadly, an ill-advised decision. "With super inflation in drama production, the cost of the programme has increased significantly, and further investment is also now required to refurbish the site where the show is made, or to relocate it to another home.
