Let It Be, the long-unavailable Holy Grail film among Beatles fans, will return for public consumption on May 8 with an exclusive launch on Disney+, the streamer announced today. With Lindsay-Hogg’s full support, Apple Corps sought out Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production to undertake a restoration of the 1970 film from the original 16mm negative, which included remastering the sound using the same MAL de-mix technology that was applied to the Get Back docuseries. “Let It Be,” directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, stars John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, with a special appearance by Billy Preston.
