BBC's Nicky Campbell's daughter left in tears after discovering sad childhood memory


BBC Radio 5 Live's Nicky Campbell and one of his daughters, Kirsty, reflected on an emotional chapter in his memoir, in which he detailed being brought up by adoptive parents

Nicky Campbell, who presents his show on BBC Radio 5 Live, and his daughter Kirsty have reflected on some of his challenging times in his past, including his adoption journey. Recounting the memory that sparked tears, he told The Times: "We were in Inverness, mum and dad made a big fuss and a cake came in and an organist in the corner started playing Happy Birthday. Delving deeper into his first meeting with his biological mother, he described her as having a "terribly challenging life", suffering from bipolar disorder, and being hospitalised multiple times due to breakdowns.
