BBC viewers moved to tears as Vicky McClure's family story shared on Who Do You Think You Are?

The Line of Duty star was left feeling emotional as she discovered details about what happened to her great-grandfather in a prisoner of war camp on BBC's Who Do You Think You Are?

The Line of Duty star endured a 17-hour journey to Asia to uncover the haunting truths about Harry Millership - her maternal grandfather's plight after he was ensnared in the Fall of Singapore alongside 130,000 other soldiers in 1942. Vicky teared up when she learned of Harry's dreadful voyage to Singapore by sea in 1942, lasting 70 days, before his involvement in what is remembered as one of the starkest losses for the Allies during WWII, reports the Express. Eight months before his capture, Harry's ordeal was exacerbated on a nightmare journey to Taiwan aboard a "hell ship" crammed with men languishing from both hunger and sickness.
