BBC throw their support behind Giovanni Pernice as they plug his new prime time show but his Strictly partner Amanda Abbington doubles down and 'hires top lawyer to pursue rehearsal footage'

The BBC has thrown their support behind Giovanni Pernice by plugging his new prime time show as the Strictly dancer is hit by a fresh crisis.

On the website of her lawyer firm Carter-Ruck it says: 'Persephone specialises in media and reputation management work, encompassing defamation, privacy and harassment, together with data protection and intellectual property litigation.' The BBC said earlier this year that they would not be investigating Giovanni's behaviour with Amanda, with a spokesperson saying: 'There is a constant dialogue between the senior production team and contestants to ensure any concerns are addressed swiftly.' Giovanni, who is currently on tour with his stage show and is set to star with Anton Du Beke in a travel series on Monday, hinted last month he'd return to Strictly later this year for the last time.
