BBC The Repair Shop's Jay Blades' mental health breakdown as medics rush to section him


The Repair Shop presenter Jay Blades has revealed that he was nearly sectioned about the breakdown of his marriage in 2015, admitting: "I couldn't see myself being in tomorrow."

The Repair Shop's Jay Blades has opened up about the lowest moment in his life, revealing that he tried to commit suicide and was nearly sectioned by medics after the failures of his marriage and business. When asked about moving to Wolverhampton from High Wycombe, Jay explained on the podcast that he suffered a mental breakdown eight years prior after the end of his marriage to his first wife Jade, with whom he shares daughter Zola. Jay went onto add that the crew of medics and police were there to section him under the Mental Health Act - which allows a person to be detained and treated without their agreement if they are considered a danger to themselves or others.
