BBC The One Show's Alex Jones left red-faced after embarrassing slip-up in EastEnders chat
BBC The One Show presenter Alex Jones was left red-faced after making an awkward gaffe during an interview with former EastEnders star James Bye on Monday night's show
The actor, who's been the face behind Martin Fowler for 11 years, sat down on the couch to spill the beans on his character's explosive goodbye – which aired during the soap's much-anticipated 40th anniversary live episode. Co-host Roman Kemp kicked things off by saying: "Now James the live EastEnders episode didn't pull any punches..." before showing audience members the nail-biting moment when Martin met his end underneath a metal beam after the Queen Vic's dramatic explosion and subsequent cardiac arrest. Delving into his departure story, James revealed he had strong words with showrunners, insisting on telling co-star Lacey, who played Martin's former flame Stacey, about his imminent exit himself.
