BBC Strictly's Amy Dowden breaks silence after 'crazy week' in cancer battle

Strictly dance professional Amy Dowden has broken her silence on social media after vanishing for several days, amid a 'crazy week' of hospital visits and a new health milestone

The 33 year old professional dancer broke her silence on Wednesday, 24 January, when she took to Instagram to explain her absence and apologise to her fans for the lack of updates which had left them fearing for her wellbeing. Amy, who has been battling breast cancer since her diagnosis in May 2023, has been an active user of social media to document her journey through treatment, which meant when she hadn’t posted since the beginning of the year, fans immediately feared the worst and began to worry if something had happened. In addition to her absence update, Amy also shared a huge piece of milestone news with fans when she revealed her hair and eyelashes had finally started to grow back following her chemotherapy treatment.
