BBC Strictly Come Dancing 'signs up' football legend for 2025 series

A former Premier League star is the latest name to be linked to the upcoming series

At 53, the Dutch former forward is on the brink of becoming the newest addition from the world of football to grace the Strictly ballroom, potentially joining the ranks of Robbie Savage, Alex Scott and Tony Adams in their quest for the coveted Glitterball Trophy. Set to join the star-studded line-up this season are Olympian Sir Mo Farah, Gladiators' Aikines-Aryeetey, fondly known as Nitro, and Yinrun Huang, famed for her Big Brother stint, reports the Mirror. This revelation follows the 2024 contestant Jamie Borthwick, famed for his role as Jay Brown on the BBC soap EastEnders, being compelled to issue a heartfelt apology after footage allegedly surfaced of him making derogatory remarks about the people of Blackpool.
