BBC star dead as tributes paid to legend who’s left ‘lasting legacy’ in TV


Actress Julie Stevens, who starred in a number of Carry On films and also became a household name on children's TV during the Sixties and Seventies, has died aged 87

The star's family told The Sun that the last few years had been "difficult" following her diagnosis, but added: "[Julie] faced it as she did all challenges, with good humour and great charm. Julie, a cherished face in children's television, graced the screen on the classic show Play School back in 1965 and wove stories for Watch With Mother in 1967. She confided her vivid memories of that time, "I sang, made something out of a box and read two made-up stories about Billy the Beacon and Zoe the Zebra Crossing.
