BBC Presenter Lauren Laverne Reveals Cancer Diagnosis


Lauren Laverne, BBC's 'Desert Island Discs' presenter, has been diagnosed with cancer.

In an Instagram post, the Desert Island Discs host said the cancer had recently been detected during a screening test but was “caught early” and the she is expected to take a full recovery. She thanked the medical teams who had “got me this far with incredible skill and kindness,” her friends and family, who have been “absolutely extraordinary every step of the way” and the teams at her agent, Independent Talent Group, radio station BBC 6 Music, BBC magazine series The One Show and Desert Island Discs, the influential music show she has hosted since 2018. Laverne was the lead singer in the 1990s British band Kenickie before moving into TV presenting for the likes of Channel 4, Sky and the BBC.
