Kirsty Wark hosted her final episode of BBC Two's Newsnight on Friday evening after presenting the programme for the past 30 years, wiping away tears during her farewell

BBC's Kirsty Wark couldn't hold back the tears as she signed off from her final Newsnight episode, marking the end of an era after 30 years at the helm. For her swansong broadcast on Friday 12 July, she was joined by a host of familiar faces including ex-BBC journalist Lewis Goodall, Hollywood star Alan Cumming, Newsnight's own political editor Nicholas Watt, and Martha Kearney, who is also set to depart from the Today programme. Throughout her tenure, Kirsty earned accolades for her formidable interviewing skills, with former PMs Sir Tony Blair and Lord David Cameron among those who've praised her for giving them a grilling they'd never forget.
