BBC Plans Landmark Drama Series About Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s Arbitrary Detention In Iran

The BBC has greenlit a Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe drama. The series is based on her book 'A Yard of Sky,' which is co-written by Richard Ratcliffe.

Deadline can reveal that the British broadcaster is planning to adapt Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s upcoming book, A Yard of Sky: A Story of Love, Resistance and Hop e, which she co-wrote with her husband Richard Ratcliffe, who campaigned tirelessly for her release from prison. The series will be produced by Dancing Ledge Productions, which has form in making BBC factual dramas after 2020’s The Salisbury Poisonings, which spotlighted the Novichok attack on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal on British soil. A BBC spokesperson said: “Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Richard Ratcliffe’s extraordinary experiences captured everyone’s hearts; their journey is one of despair, courage and hope, spanning two countries and six years, and ultimately, it’s a story of how this family, who were forced apart by international events, were finally reunited.”
