BBC Gavin and Stacey star looks completely different in new role
One of the stars of Gavin and Stacey has taken on a new role in a BBC series in which he looks very different from his iconic character in the beloved sitcom that ended last year
Swapping the laughs for a different kind of drama, Robert is guest starring in the BBC daytime mystery series Father Brown, appearing as a clean-shaven maths professor – quite the change from his scruffy character Jason, who was involved in the notorious fishing trip with Uncle Bryn in the much-loved sitcom. He starred as William Fitzgibbon, a Maths Professor at Gloucester University, who becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation when a member of the local sewing circle (played by Carlyss Peer) is found stabbed to death. Robert Wilfort is best known for his role as Jason in Gavin & StaceyWhile the original stories were set between the two World Wars, the BBC adaptation takes place in the 1950s, a time characterised by rationing, the illegality of homosexuality and abortion, and Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation.
