BBC Call The Midwife star who left series to become hugely successful and then won Oscar

Patience "Patsy" Elizabeth Mount was a tall, poised and refined character loved by fans during her five-year tenure on the successful BBC show. The character was born in Shanghai in 1933, and until she was nine years old lived relatively peacefully when she and her family were then held in a Japanese prisoner of war camp.
