BBC Blueprint To Move $870M Of Spending Out Of London Criticized By Audit Office For Lacking “Coherent Approach”
The BBC's Across The UK Plan has been criticized By the National Audit Office for lacking a coherent approach.
It involves moving £700M more investment outside of London by March 2028, with shows, employees and hubs shifted beyond the capital in a bid to better represent and contribute towards the UK’s nations and regions. Responding, Thomas Wrathmell, the Director of Across the UK, said it is “disappointed by some of the commentary in the committee’s report and look forward to addressing the issues raised when we provide our written response.” “We have a very clear plan on how we will move investment, programming and decision-making across the UK to get closer to audiences, support the country’s diverse creative sectors, and develop and nurture new talent,” he added.
