BBC announces surprise Strictly Come Dancing special as the hit competition series celebrates its 20th anniversary


The hit BBC show turned 20 on 15 May 2024 and will mark the anniversary with a one-off special.

The hit Latin and ballroom show first aired on 15 May 2004 and in honour of the anniversary, the broadcaster has commissioned a one-off special that will delve into the history of the programme. 'Throughout its 20-year history, the show has launched careers, sparked trends, and touched the hearts of millions with its dazzling performances, emotional journeys, and unforgettable moments and we will be showcasing it all in this very special programme.' The hit Latin and ballroom show first aired on 15 May 2004 and in honour of the anniversary, the broadcaster has commissioned a one-off special (Judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse)
