BAFTAs viewers slam Zoe Saldana's explicit-laden acceptance speech as they joke her monologue had them 'reaching for the hard liquor' before she was cut off
The American star, 46, made her way onto the stage at The Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday to collect the gong for her star turn in the musical crime film Emilia Perez.
But Zoe was soon in floods of tears after collecting the prize, admitting it is 'so validating and a true honour' to receive the gong after being previously told by dialect coaches that her British accent wasn't going to work. Emilie Perez, which received mixed reviews despite its star cast including Selena Gomez, was up for a staggering 11 awards but won just two, adding Best Film Not In The English Language to Zoe's gong. The star, 52, was left off the BAFTA guest list, after several of her offensive social media posts resurfaced and sparked controversy amid allegations of racism, homophobia and body shaming.
