Avery Pohl officially exited General Hospital following a dramatic cliffhanger after a two-and-a-half year run on long-running soap opera following the January 31 episode.
Her final episode aired on January 31, when her character Esme and her ex-boyfriend Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) were presumed dead after they fell overboard from a private yacht during a dramatic fight that also involved his current girlfriend Trina (Tabyana Ali). In once instance of her deviousness, Esme secretly recorded Cameron (William Lipton) and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) having sex, then released the footage, and framed Trina for the crime of revenge porn. While chatting to Soap Opera Digest, Pohl revealed that she was very aware of the dark direction her character was be headed when she signed on, and that ultimately her job was designed to draw the audience's ire.
