Starting on August 3, Cardoso kicking off the 2024 program at ARRAY’s Creative Campus in LA’s Historic Filipinotown with a screening of her Sundance award winning 2002 film Real Women Have Curves. The director, who helmed an episode of the DuVernay created OWN TV series Queen Sugar, will provide live commentary on the acclaimed picture for the Scene on Screen event. With a spotlight on the Palme d’Or nominated director/actor’s A Rage in Harlem from 1991, plus 1993’s Hoodlum and 1992’s Deep Cover, the 2025 Hollywood Walk of Fame recipient will participate in a one-on-one chat with Origin director DuVerney before a live audience.
