Arista Records President David Massey Announces Retirement From Label
Sony Music announced on Monday that David Massey, president of Arista Records since its relaunch in 2018, will retire at the end of June.
Founded by Clive Davis in 1974, Arista was the longtime home of Whitney Houston, Patti Smith, Carlos Santana and Barry Manilow, among other legends, before it was retired in 2011 by RCA executives. Under his leadership, Arista’s roster has included Grammy-nominated singer JP Saxe, Italian rock band Måneskin, and rappers Lola Brooke and Paul Russell, among others. At Island, Massey guided the careers of artists such as Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Tove Lo, The Killers, Fall Out Boy, Bon Jovi and Mike Posner.
