Ariana Grande Wears Vintage, Yellow Brick Road-Inspired Dress to the Golden Globes: ‘It’s One of Galinda’s Favorite Colors’

Ariana Grande's 1966 Givenchy Haute Couture dress at the Golden Globes is yellow in tribute to 'Follow the Yellow Brick Road.'

That’s because at the Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Pre-Show at the Beverly Hilton, Ariana Grande donned an unworn vintage 1966 Givenchy Haute Couture dress. Grande told Marc Malkin, Variety ‘s Senior Culture & Events Editor, that the dress’ color is inspired by the iconic song from “The Wizard of Oz,” the 1939 musical for which “ Wicked ” serves as a prequel. The film is directed by Jon M. Chu, who previously helmed “In The Heights” and “Crazy Rich Asians,” and is inspired by the Broadway musical that premiered in 2003 with the original cast including Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel.
