Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Were Paid the Same for ‘Wicked’

"Reports of pay disparity between Cynthia and Ariana are completely false and based on internet fodder," said a Universal spokesperson.

Originally based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, with Erivo as Elphaba and Grande as Glinda. The Wicked co-stars have gushed about their relationship both on- and off-screen throughout their whirlwind press tour, saying that they would both love to return to the Broadway stage, ideally together. Wicked (Part One) concluded with “Defying Gravity,” the signature song that closed Act I of the Broadway stage show and sets up the “To Be Continued” two-part film.
