Are the Grammys Still Happening Amid the California Wildfires?


With the Grammys set to take place in Los Angeles and the California wildfires still impacting the city, could the awards show be postponed? Keep reading to find out.

As stated by Recording Academy and MusiCares CEO Harvey Mason Jr. on the Recording Academy website, “The entire GRAMMY family is shocked and deeply saddened by the situation unfolding in Los Angeles.” He added, “The music community is being so severely impacted, but we will come together as an industry to support one another. In an Instagram carousel post, the Recording Academy wrote, “As the devastation unfolds from the wildfires in Los Angeles, the Recording Academy and MusiCares have launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort to support music professionals impacted by the crisis and made a combined pledge of $1 million to kick off the efforts.” According to Variety, insiders confirmed that while it is too early to make a final decision, the award show will most likely focus on raising funds for “the city and its music-centric residents.”
