Anthony Mackie Says Being Black Captain America ‘Means Everything’ (Exclusive)

Anthony Mackie was feeling the excitement as he spoke to “Extra’s” Melvin Robert at the Hollywood premiere of “Captain America: Brave New World.” He reflected that it “means everything” to him to be the Black Captain America – his grandfather was a sharecropper, his dad was a roofer, and now, he’s a Marvel superhero! Anthony also spoke about how Superman was his favorite superhero growing up, and he hopes his Captain America brings a similar level of compassion and empathy that people will be inspired to emulate. Plus, he talked about how it was a full-circle moment reuniting with Harrison Ford, after having worked together two decades ago. “Captain America: Brave New World” hits theaters February 14.
