Anthea Turner, 63, vows to SAVE Blue Peter after fronting the show during its 90s heyday - amid BBC's 'plans to ditch live broadcasts and switch hosts in huge shake-up'

The presenter, 63, who fronted the children's favourite from 1992 to 1994, said it would be a 'shame' if the show were to ditch its live episodes.

During her time as Blue Peter's host, Anthea delivered a now-iconic make recreating the famous Thunderbirds Tracy Island, considered one of the most difficult crafts in the show's history. Despite being a staple on the BBC for nearly seven decades, the channel has put production of the kids TV favourite out to tender in a bid to revive the shows fortunes (pictured Abby Cook (right), with Mwaka Mudenda (left) and Joel Mawhinney (center) However, the presenters could face a huge switch up to the line-up as the BBC have said they are 'open' to regularly mixing up their hosts (pictured Simon Thomas, Konnie Huq, Liz Barker and Matt Baker in 2004)
