Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly confirm they have started 'developing' Byker Grove reboot after nearly two decades off air

It's been nearly 20 years since viewers said goodbye to Byker Grove, but Ant and Dec have been working behind-the-scenes to bring the soap back.

According to production company Fulwell 73, the show will be aimed 'at a primetime audience' and will 'engage with a new generation of teenagers navigating the different challenges faced by young adults today'. The project comes two years after the pair launched a free scheme backed by the Prince's Trust to help young unemployed people kickstart their TV careers. The duo went on to record a successful album in real life, scoring a number one hit with Let's Get Ready To Rhumble in 2013 after performing it on Saturday Night Takeaway 19 years after its original release.
