Anne Whitfield dead at 85: White Christmas actress with prolific television career passes away after 'unexpected accident'


Actress Anne Whitfield, famous for starring in 1954 holiday classic White Christmas, has passed away at 85 following an 'unexpected accident.'

Her character was the granddaughter of Major General Thomas Waverly (Dean Jagger), starring alongside Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen. She starred in episodes of Peter Gunn, Manhunt, The Untouchables, The Donna Reed Show, Rawhide, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis and Emergency! The causes she fought for included: 'Climate change, transparency in political campaign financing, fair electoral systems, voter registration in swing states, caring for the un-housed, women's rights, and refugee assimilation.'
