Anjelica Huston Says Ex Jack Nicholson Offered Her a Place to Stay During the L.A. Wildfires: 'Heartbreakingly Sweet'

Anjelica Huston tells PEOPLE she received a call from her ex Jack Nicholson during the L.A. wildfires asking if she was okay and if she needed a place to stay.

"It was heartbreakingly sweet,” says Huston, who evacuated to her ranch near the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California amid the fires. Following Graham's death in 2008, Huston faced a difficult few years that included a cancer diagnosis, something she'd never revealed publicly prior to her PEOPLE interview. Four years ago, when Huston received her "all clear" from her doctors, she says she "walked in my garden and smelled the roses and thought how clever I was."
