Angela Bassett has revealed she is still grappling with disappointment over losing the 2023 Best Supporting Actress award to Jamie Lee Curtis

Her longtime friend and fellow acclaimed actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste echoed Bassett's sentiments that she deserved to win, adding that while the star was 'really respected among her peers, 'maybe the establishment has not done [right by her].' Bassett, who was hoping to win Marvel Studio's first ever acting Oscar after taking home the Golden Globe for her role as Queen Ramonda, was somber as she lost With Kelly and Mark, the Golden Globe winner said her husband and 18-year-old twins Bronwyn and Slater were surprised at the outcome, but the loss turned into a life lesson.
