André 3000 Drops Surprise Project '7 Piano Sketches'

The OutKast legend showed up to the Met Gala dressed as a piano, and is back with another no-bars-in-sight vibe session.

Before André 3000 was floating through soundscapes with his flute on New Blue Sun —which earned a 2025 Grammy nod for Album of the Year—he had another idea in the vault: stripped-down, meditative piano tracks. That vision just dropped in the form of 7 Piano Sketches, a brand-new instrumental album that takes the same freeform energy of New Blue Sun and translates it to the keys. The seven-track project was actually born nearly a decade ago, when André was posted up in Texas with his son in a bare-bones spot—just a piano, two beds, and a couple of screens.
