Andor Recap: We Used Up All the Perfect
Luthen indirectly hands Kleya a new mission and some late-breaking backstory.
Luthen Rael, played with authority and conviction by Stellan Skarsgård, has his final stand here, typically unflappable as he learns from his about-to-be-final meeting with Lonni Jung of the Empire’s secret Death Star plans, uncovered straight from Dedra Meero’s files. A lucky thing for Kleya, too, because that’s precisely when Dedra shows up at the shop, maintaining a facade for a few short minutes before gleefully revealing herself to Luthen and finally spitting out what she’s been apparently dying to say to her mysterious target, “Axis.” Besides knocking his “ridiculous wig” (girl! This episode is obviously just one slice of a larger narrative, yet when Kleya finally reaches Luthen, unplugs him from life support, and quietly sheds a tear, followed by an appropriately slow fade to black on his now-lifeless body, it feels conclusive, however temporarily.
