After being booed offstage on the talent show in 2024, Reuben Solo vindicates himself in his new special.
Such is the framing for Solo’s new YouTube special, Please Clap, which begins with the comedian brooding over footage of his AGT performance, then taking the stage one year later — wearing the exact same shirt, for the record — in an attempt to vindicate himself. “Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result,” Solo says, pulling his phone out from his back pocket to read a saved passage. It was arguably funny the third time, but that was mainly due to my skills of performance and delivery, which are now rapidly slipping through my fingers as I begin to panic in front of an increasingly hostile crowd.
