Amber Ruffin Is ‘Glad’ She Was Canceled From White House Correspondents’ Dinner


Amber Ruffin appeared on 'The Late Show' to discuss being dropped from the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The comedian was originally slated to perform at the annual event, but was disinvited several weeks out after a White House deputy chief of staff raised concerns about Ruffin’s critical comments about Donald Trump. Ruffin was dropped from the White House Correspondents Association back in March after she spoke out about Trump on a podcast, calling the administration “kind of a bunch of murderers.” At this consequential moment for journalism, I want to ensure the focus is not on the politics of division but entirely on awarding our colleagues for their outstanding work and providing scholarship and mentorship to the next generation of journalists.”
