Disney vet Alexandra Weinberger has joined Amazon MGM Studios in the newly created role of chief of YA and comedy current series. In her new position, Weinberger will head up a team that will take oversight of some of Amazon MGM Studios’ first-season YA and comedy shows — at Prime Video, the list of applicable upcoming titles includes “Cruel Intentions,” “We Were Liars,” “Motorheads,” “Off Campus,” “Every Year After,” “Overcompensating” and more — as they enter into their second seasons. Most recently, Weinberger was a producer and creative consultant on the Dear Media podcast “Coming in Hot.” Prior to that, she worked at Disney for 21 years in a variety of leadership roles across brands, including ABC Studios, where she was a senior executive in current programming and oversaw Shonda Rhimes-created series “Private Practice,” “Scandal,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Station 19,” as well as Greg Berlanti Productions’ “Brothers and Sisters,” “Dirty Sexy Money” and “Eli Stone.”
