AMAs 2025: Shaboozey Goes Viral For Reaction To Megan Moroney Saying The Carter Family Invented Country Music
Shaboozey became a meme following a viral moment at the 2025 American Music Awards.
Things got awkward when Moroney took a turn reading off the teleprompter, saying, “That same year, Favorite Female Artist went to Lynn Anderson, and this award [Favorite Country Duo or Group] went to the Carter family, who basically invented country music.” Shaboozey paused to process Moroney’s words and let out a laugh before continuing to present the nominees in the category, which was ultimately won by the duo Dan and Shay. The Carter Family was an American folk music group known for songs like “Wabash Cannonball,” “Can the Circle Be Unbroken,” “Wildwood Flower,” “Keep on the Sunny Side,” and “I’m Thinking Tonight of My Blue Eyes.”
