In 1954, she starred in five films, including Alfred Hitchcock’s “Rear Window” and “Dial M for Murder,” and further demonstrated her range as the dowdy wife of an alcoholic actor in “The Country Girl.” A year after winning the Oscar, she gave up showbiz when she married Prince Rainier of Monaco.
