Alice in Chains Cancel Tour Due to Drummer’s ‘Medical Emergency’

Alice in Chains have canceled the remainder of their tour after drummer Sean Kinney suffered "a medical emergency" earlier this week.

Earlier this week, the grunge band canceled their tour-opening concert in Uncasville, Connecticut hours before showtime after Kinney “experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency” shortly after soundcheck. While Alice in Chains didn’t elaborate on Kinney’s condition, on Friday, the band revealed that their North American tour — which included stops at Columbus’ Sonic Temple and Daytona Beach’s Welcome to Rockville festivals in the coming weeks — was off. “After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performance and the Alice in Chains headline shows,” the band wrote on social media.
