Alexi Hawley American Hostage Recovery Series Based On Adam Ciralsky’s Vanity Fair Story In Works At Lionsgate TV

Lionsgate Television is developing the series The Envoy based on the June 2024 Vanity Fair article "Take No Prisoners" from Emmy and Peabody Award-winning journalist Adam Ciralsky.

Ciralsky details a year spent with Roger Carstens, the point man for freeing US detainees held by world figures like Vladimir Putin and Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro. “It’s an honor to create a show based on Adam’s riveting article, fictionalizing the high-stakes, exhaustive and emotional efforts to bring America’s hostages home,” said Hawley. “In just the past few days, we’ve seen this piece resonate with Vanity Fair readers globally,” said Scott Herbst, EVP and Head of Scripted Development, Lionsgate Television.
