Alec Baldwin Sues 'Rust' Shooting Prosecutors Over 'Malicious Prosecution'
Alec Baldwin filed a lawsuit against prosecutors who sought criminal charges against him in the fatal shooting of ‘Rust’ cinematographer Halyna Hutchins
The lawsuit, filed in federal court in New Mexico on Thursday, January 9, claims that the prosecution team intentionally concealed evidence that would vindicate him of involuntary manslaughter. “Criminal prosecutions are supposed to be about the search for truth and justice, not to pursue personal or political gain or harass the innocent,” Baldwin’s attorneys Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro said in a statement to the L.A. Times. “The state’s efforts to continue to litigate the case in a fair and comprehensive manner have been met with multiple barriers that have compromised its ability to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law,” Morrissey said in a news release, per The New York Times.
