Alamo Drafthouse Closes 6 Theaters in Texas and Minnesota as Franchisee Goes Bankrupt

Six Alamo Drafthouse theaters in Texas and Minnesota have closed abruptly

The closures come as the summer box office is suffering a steep decline, with major films such as “The Fall Guy” and “Furiosa” failing to connect with audiences. In a press release announcing the bankruptcy, Two is One, One is None, LLC said it had “infused more than $3.5 million dollars in new capital, into payroll and operations in 2023” and tried to cut costs. Alamo has attracted a passionate following with its extensive menu of cocktails, craft beer and food, as well as its strict “no talking, no texting” policy.
