AI Deep-Fake Bill Gets a Thumbs-Up From YouTube
Randy Travis, Fran Drescher, and more expressed support for protection against deep fakes.
In a statement shared on April 9, YouTube announced its support for the bill as well as updating its privacy policy to protect individuals’ likenesses. “We’re proud to support this important legislation, which tackles the growing problem of harm associated with unauthorized digital replicas: AI-generated content simulating a person’s image or voice that can be used to mislead or misrepresent,” YouTube stated. Per The Hollywood Reporter, he shared, “No one should be allowed to put words in someone else’s mouth or depict them doing something they never did.” Fran Drescher also spoke out in favor of the bill, explaining how deep-fakes have affected her image.
