AFL star Bailey Smith surprises fans as he is seen working behind the bar at a Melbourne pub - after his Western Bulldogs trade request

AFL superstar Bailey Smith surprised Melbourne fans by popping up behind the bar at a venue on Church Street for a Thursday night shift.

Bailey's stint behind the bar was to promote his drinks brand Barry, which he said has given him 'focus' while he was forced to sit out of the 2024 campaign after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament at training in December. His passion project - a Japanese-inspired drink of shochu, vodka, and soda - has cut through the saturated Australian celebrity booze market and saw him take home the Coles Liquor supplier award. He joined forces on the alcohol venture with fellow athletic superstars Nick and Josh Daicos, Charlie Curnow and NRL star Reece Walsh in 2023.
