Affordable Sneaker Brand Reacts to Jeff Bezos Wearing Its Shoes: ‘We Are Grateful Whenever New Customers Find Us’
The Amazon founder was photographed at the F1 Monaco Grand Prix in a pair of CLAE Salazar sneakers. The premium lifestyle runners retail for $220.
Impressively, Bezos wore the affordable kicks while strolling with fiancé Lauren Sánchez (dressed in a sheer designer gown) and posing for pics with LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault and Liberty Media President and Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Chang. In a statement provided exclusively to Variety, CLAE CEO Jim Bartholet says the brand is “appreciative” to see Bezos discovering their shoes, adding diplomatically that he is “grateful whenever new customers find us for any reason, be it sustainability, style, or function.” Founded in 2001, CLAE has its roots in the LA and Parisian streetwear scenes, and its signature Bradley sneakers quickly became a go-to for guys seeking a more laidback look and affordable alternative to the Silicon Valley-favorite Common Projects shoes.
