One asserted that “All of it, it’s going to be a little rough in the beginning but we will be 1000 times better in the end,” in reference to Trump’s trade policies incurring short-term pain for long-term gain. Far fewer policy responses, more personal or partisan attacks emanated from Schiff’s facility-level critique of Trump’s tariffs; this may well be a sign of how split the country is over this particular question.
