Adam Driver to Star in Kenneth Lonergan’s Play ‘Hold on to Me Darling’ Off Broadway
Adam Driver will star in a revival of Kenneth Lonergan's play 'Hold on to Me Darling.'
“Hold on to Me Darling” follows a country music icon named Strings McCrane (Driver), who finds himself in an existential tailspin on learning of his mother’s death. A New York Times review by Ben Brantley called that production “a poignant comic study of the bad faith and bad behavior of a narcissistic celebrity and those around him.” Brantley added that Lonergan is “a writer with one of the best ears around for the language of the morally challenged — a term that I would say applies to most of the human race.” Lonergan is the Tony-winning playwright of “This Is Our Youth,” “Lobby Hero” and “The Waverly Gallery.” He also won an original screenplay Oscar for “Manchester by the Sea,” a drama starring Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams.
