Inspired by Foster’s relationship with husband Simon Tikhman, the show’s Season 1 finale saw Noah at a crossroads, as Joanne decided, after much contemplation, against converting to Judaism, in a move that leads to the couple’s breakup. In a decisive act, however, Noah ultimately chooses to to prioritize his love for Joanne over his career, in a reevaluation of the priorities and rigid structures that have defined his life.
