Academy Separates Short Films and Feature Animation Branch Into Two New Distinct Branches
The Oscars have separated the short films and animation branch into two distinct branches: animation branch and short films branch.
This branch will have one governor representative, who will be elected for a term starting in the 2024-2025 fiscal year and will oversee the live action short award. Earlier this month, the Oscars announced a new category for best achievement in casting, set to be introduced for films released in 2025. Inspired by the Music of John & Yoko” while the live action short lineup includes “The After,” “Invincible,” “Knight of Fortune,” “Red, White and Blue” and “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.”
