Academy Appoints Three New Governors-at-Large: Haifaa Al-Mansour, Effie T. Brown and Annie Chang
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has appointed Haifaa Al-Mansour, Effie T. Brown, and Annie Chang as governors-at-large.
Yang also thanked outgoing governors-at-large DeVon Franklin and Rodrigo García for their six years of service. The Board of Governors is responsible for setting the Academy’s strategic vision, maintaining its financial stability, and ensuring the fulfillment of its mission to support excellence in the motion picture arts and sciences. With the new appointments and the previously announced branch-elected governors for 2025–2026, the 55-member Board now comprises 55% women and 31% individuals from underrepresented communities.
